Challenge
The National Dialogue on Cancer, an initiative founded by the American Cancer Society, worked to facilitate coordination and communication among cancer care providers, researchers, and advocates across the country. The mission was significant: to create a national conversation about cancer care at a time when it was more urgent than ever.
What the organization lacked was the infrastructure to support it. There was no central platform for disseminating information to members, no system for managing membership profiles, and no way for staff to update content or generate reports without relying on outside technical support. The communication burden on staff was high. The visibility into the membership was low. A purpose-built platform was needed, and it needed to be manageable by non-technical staff from day one.
Action
V! Studios developed a public-facing website paired with a suite of custom tools built specifically around how the National Dialogue on Cancer team worked.
The content management tool gave staff direct control over the website without requiring technical knowledge. Updates that previously required outside assistance could be made immediately by the people closest to the content. The tool was designed for the organization’s actual workflows, not adapted from a generic platform.
The member database and profile management system gave the organization a structured, searchable record of its membership for the first time. Staff could view, update, and manage member information through a purpose-built interface. The reporting tools built into the system allowed staff to generate meaningful membership analytics on demand, producing insight that had not previously been available.
Throughout the engagement, V! Studios worked on a schedule built around the client’s operational needs, delivering on time and on budget.
Result
The platform became the central communication hub for the National Dialogue on Cancer, providing the organization with a reliable, staff-managed channel to reach cancer care providers nationwide.
The content management tool eliminated the delays and dependencies that had previously slowed internal communication. Staff could manage the site directly. The member database gave the organization structured visibility into who its members were and how to reach them. Reporting that had previously required outside technical support became a routine internal capability.
| “V! Studios produced an easy-to-manage database of members. They also created a custom content management tool that made it very simple for us to manage communication for the entire membership. This website provided us with efficiencies we lacked prior to the implementation of these solutions.”National Dialogue on Cancer / American Cancer Society |
Why It Matters
The National Dialogue on Cancer engagement is an example of what V! Studios has done consistently across 30 years: identify what a client actually needs to operate, build it precisely to those requirements, and deliver it on a schedule that respects how the organization works.
The tools built for this project were more than not off-the-shelf software adapted under pressure. They were purpose-built for the people who would use them, which is why a non-technical staff team was able to run a national communication platform from day one. That approach, designing for the actual user rather than the hypothetical one, remains central to how V! Studios builds today.
